Cheerleading

There they are; on the sidelines in short skirts and pom-poms in their hands. Jumping up and down and shouting cheers. Do the players really care? It’s the coaches that give the players direction and keep them in the zone. Before and after the game it would be nice to see them and they are pretty, but do they really keep the players going? They may really be there to keep the crowd going.

If the players were really watching the cheerleaders too much, they would be told to get their head ‘back in the game’. When our friends give us encouragement sometimes its’ called cheer-leading. It can be helpful, just like the crowd yelling and cheering.

How gives encouragement to the cheerleaders? Their coaches and what about all the coaches, where do they get encouragement? The people that coach are more of the type A personalities and they are pretty much go-getters in the first place. They don’t always need cheering.

I envy those kinds of people and look up to them. They just go and do and don’t whine and carry on and need cheer-leading. Sometimes they do and their friends and family do the cheer-leading. The ones doing the cheering are usually the type C personalities. They are the helpers and they usually see then need the others have in being cheered on. They are people that also need cheers, but don’t receive them.

It maybe that since they help others, the ones they help assume the cheerleaders have all the pep in the world and don’t need help. The irony, cheerleaders need to be told they are good and need encouragement, why else would they put themselves in front of a crowd of people that will give them applause? Yes, it’s because they need it.

The people that don’t need all that will never understand why others need applause. These ones get praise for all they great things they do and achieve. To get praise for jumping up and down, quite hard work by the way, or acting or singing, seems silly to them. If we didn’t have needy actors and singers, who would we watch perform? At the same time if we didn’t have bankers and engineers; who would have money to put on a show, no one really.

It does take all types to run the world and everyone has something to bring to the table. We can’t look down on artist who does anything just for the love of art, without that dedication we wouldn’t have great works of art. We can’t look down at the stable people that don’t create but do other worthwhile jobs. Neither one is crazy. We should appreciate both the player and the cheerleader; both may need to be built up at one time or another.
